Photography, for me, has always been about noticing what might otherwise pass us by. I’m drawn to the fleeting expressions, unexpected details and small moments of character that make a photograph feel alive. Through Solasflare Photography, my work moves between wildlife and nature, portraits, cosplay, events and celebrations, but the approach remains the same: creating images that feel genuine, expressive and true to the moment. I prefer to let things unfold naturally rather than forcing everything into a perfect pose, giving people room to be themselves and allowing the unexpected to become part of the story. Whether I’m documenting an important milestone or quietly waiting for wildlife to appear, I’m always looking for photographs that capture more than what something looked like, but something of what it felt like to be there.

My Approach

I want being photographed to feel comfortable, natural and genuinely enjoyable. You don’t need to arrive knowing how to pose or what to do in front of the camera. I’ll offer gentle direction when it’s helpful, while leaving plenty of room for real interactions, movement and personality to come through. I’m always watching for the candid moments in between, the laughter, expressions and little details that can’t be planned. Rather than trying to make every photograph feel perfectly posed, my aim is to create images that feel like you and reflect the experience as it actually happened.

A few things about me

Wildlife will always catch my attention.
Give me a camera and a bird, animal or unexpected little creature to photograph and I’ll happily lose track of time waiting for the right moment.

I’m drawn to the unplanned.
Some of my favourite photographs are the ones I couldn’t have planned beforehand: an expression, a sudden laugh, unexpected movement or a moment that lasts only a second.

Creativity is a big part of who I am.
Photography gives me a way to explore different worlds, whether I’m documenting a real moment, creating something imaginative through cosplay and portraiture, or finding something extraordinary in nature.

I notice the little things.
Light changing, tiny details, expressions between poses and the way people interact when they forget about the camera are often the things I find most interesting.

I want photography to feel approachable.
I don’t believe you need to know how to pose, have everything perfectly planned or feel completely confident in front of a camera. We can figure it out together as we go.

Photography Should Be for Everyone

I believe everyone deserves to feel welcome, respected and comfortable in front of the camera. As a queer, neurodivergent photographer, creating an inclusive and judgement-free space isn’t simply a statement I put on my website; it’s something that genuinely matters to me and shapes the way I work.

I welcome people of all bodies, identities, cultures, abilities and backgrounds. My photography is proudly queer and trans inclusive, size inclusive and a safe space for people of colour. I’m also experienced in working with individuals that identify as neurodivergent and those living with chronic illness, and I understand that accessibility can look different for everyone.

There is no expectation to push through discomfort for the sake of a photograph. We can take breaks, work at your pace, adapt poses and locations, communicate in ways that work for you, and make adjustments wherever possible. If there’s something that would make your session more accessible or comfortable, you’re always welcome to tell me.

You never need to make yourself smaller, quieter, easier or more conventional to belong in front of my camera. Come as you are, and we’ll create something that feels like you.
